I just got a dispatch from one of our most trusted MeatEater-at-Large contributors, Ronny Boehme, who’s out hunting upland birds with my brother Danny. Ron’s email to me had a subject line reading “Your brother’s a great shot.” The body of the message was simple and concise: “Dan shot four times and got two woodcock and one grouse.” Way to go, Danny! I’m including a great grip-and-grin of Danny and his ruffed grouse standing next to the dog boxes in the back of Ron’s truck. I can make two promises to everyone who’s reading this: One, that grouse will get eaten with love. And two, you’ll be seeing a lot more of those dog boxes in an upcoming episode of MeatEater.

maybe danny and steve are “less meat eater”.

jk..looking forward to the episode. i was a grouse magnet in idaho. (i think they were grouse)..i was missing two things..judo tip arrows in my quiver, and the correct paperwork. i think those birds knew it. one flew over me and landed 4 feet away. unlike the grouse, the elk refused to get with the program.
