Steve,my father and I have never paid any attention to caul fat ,please expain where it is located in the animal. We would deffinately like to try it.Thanks so much for a really good show to look forward to seeing each week
Steve, I am curious about the caul fat as well. Where can I find more info about this? Thanks
where is the caul fat?
From what I have goggled, caul fat surrounds the stomach and intestines. Going off memory, I believe I have seen it on whitetails.
Yeah, now that you know what it looks like you’ll definately notice it next time you field dress a deer. It’s very fragile and takes a bit of finesse to keep it in one piece,
Steven, now that you’ve used up your 10% of luck stepping on a rattlesnake, and not getting bit, get you and your camera men some snake-proof boots! 9 out of 10 times you step on a rattlesnake, you will paid big time. I’m serious, get you and your crew some snake-proof boots! Also, be much more careful where you are reaching to climb these cliffs in rattlesnake country. You never know when one is lying in the shade of a rock just inches from your hand as you climb up a cliff. I’d say about 1/3 of the rattlers I come across either don’t have rattles or their rattlers are broken making them silent! Your alpine boots aren’t going to help you down here where the rattlers are. If you are hunting cougars, javalina, desert mulies, South Texas whitetails, coues whitetails, or other animals in rattler country, you need to be better prepared. I don’t want to hear about your demise because you didn’t prepare for these areas. I wear the Cabela’s 15″ Pinnacle™ Zippered Snake Boots with GORE-TEX® Scent-Lok® because they are cooler on the feet. I can wear them unzipped and let any foot-generated heat out versus the types of boots that look like English riding boots that will cook your feet in these warmer climates. If it is cooler weather, I zip them up. Snake-proof yourselves!!!
