Welcome to MeatEater’s Auction House of Oddities. This is your one-stop shop if you’re looking for a bunch of cool, strange, and obscure stuff that you can spend money on, and then watch that money go towards an incredibly important cause. Or, if you already have some cool, strange, and obscure stuff that you think other people would enjoy spending money on, we highly encourage you to donate oddities of your own.
Starting today, Sept. 29, the House of Oddities will be running two-week auction cycles during which you can bid on a selection of one-of-a-kind items. A boat, pelts, knives, game calls, jewelry, art, gear, and memorabilia used by your favorite members of the MeatEater crew will all be available for bidding. We'll even have some swag from a few of our celebrity guests and fans. There will also be a free giveaway with every auction cycle, the contents of which might surprise you, blow your mind, or seriously gross you out, so make sure to enter for your chance to be a lucky winner.
The most important mission of the House of Oddities is what happens to the money after it leaves your wallet. We’re proud to announce that 100% of the proceeds go to the MeatEater Land Access Initiative (LAI), our in-house public lands access campaign. Last year, we raised enough money through the Rinella-Putelis campaign and other efforts to keep 215 acres around Maine’s Shiloh Pond open to the public forever. When the MeatEater community comes together and rallies around important causes like this one, we can make a serious, lasting difference for the outdoor sporting world. After all, what we protect today will stay protected perpetually. These successes will outlive us.
So in the spirit of keeping public land public and opening up more access points, check out the Auction House of Oddities and join in on the fun. Each auction closes at 12:00 p.m. MST on the last day of the cycle, and winners will have seven days to complete their purchases. If the highest bidder fails to finalize their purchase(s), they will go to the next highest bidder.
We can’t wait to see what the LAI will accomplish next. Help us grow its potential and make a serious impact on the future of public lands access. We’re always looking to connect with you, so if you have a property in mind that may benefit from our LAI, submit it here. If you have any “odd” items that you’d like to donate to our auction house for conservation efforts, reach out to meateater@themeateater.com. The House of Oddities is currently slated to run as long as there are items to auction and funds to raise, so please help us keep it stocked. Let the bidding begin!
