In this video, our friend Matt Chouinard of Delta Waterfowl shows Cal and I how to build and place mallard nesting boxes in a marsh. All you need is welded-wire fencing, hog rings, and flax straw to make the henhouse, then a stand to support it in the air above the water.
Place henhouses slightly away from cover and deep water with the entrance facing away from the predominant wind direction. Build a few of these in your local wetland to ensure you'll have ducks coming through for years to come. And make sure to check out our most recent episode of Duck Lore here.
