In order to legally travel with waterfowl, you must leave a wing or head intact for identification purposes. Deboning the bird makes for a more compact and convenient carry, and once you place it into a ziptop or vacuum-sealed bag, the duck is easily identifiable and won’t get freezer burnt.

Sometimes all it takes to call in ducks is a whistle. Sometimes you simply want to draw attention, sometimes, you really want to focus in on a particular species. And it’s not necessarily how you sound but when you sound that matters most.

Be sure to keep these five things in mind when you hit the blind this season. Nobody wants to hunt with a duck blind dingus, and you don’t want to be the reason to go home empty-handed…or worse.
