Steve's been making knives for over 30 years, and it's a detailed process that requires specialized tools and skills. The blade is made with 1095 steel and canvas micarta is used for the handle material. He also uses an old fashioned controlled rust process to seal the blade. Steve finishes out the edge using a Work Sharp knife sharpener to make the blade razor sharp.

Now I won't be giving up my Benchmade Steep Country anytime soon—that knife is perfect for the field. But a homemade knife like this one is an heirloom that'll stay in the Newcomb family long after I'm gone.
